I have seen several recipes, but the only thing sugar free in it is the pudding itself. The wafers, cool whip, etc... is not sugar free.
Does anyone have a totally sugar free recipe? We are making food for a old folks home here at work and they need sugar free banana pudding.
TIA!! :)

Just substitute lite or sugar free cool whip - You can try to find sugar free vanilla wafers.
I don't know if you can get banana pudding completely sugar free - you will still have some carbs.

Will that not hurt the older folks or younger folks who have to have a sugar free diet?

Make your own version.
The pudding is easy-the grocery store carries the pudding.
The cool whip is sugar-free as well and they include a nice recipe for you as well! (http://brands.kraftfoods.com/CoolWhip/main.aspx?s=recipe&m=recipe/knet_recipe_display&u1=byingredient&u2=10041*0*0*0**COOL WHIP Sugar Free****&u3=**15*40&wf=9&recipe_id=94520)

Bananas add some real sugar, but then, you already knew that.

Not sure what you're asking - sorry, I've not had coffee yet :giggle:
Most everything has carbs - if you look at sugar free stuff, esp. sweets, some will have carbs. They'll be getting natural sugars from the bananas. But it shouldn't hurt. My nephew has Type 1 diabetes (has since he was 2) so we've all had to learn a lot about how to cook for him.
If you can use sugar free wafers, pudding and lite or sugar free cool whip you should be good to go. The only other option is to make your own custard using a sugar substitute (I think one of the recipe links does that). Cool whip has 2g of carbs per serving, Lite and Free have 1 g and Sugar Free has 3 g.
I just talked to my sister - she said to substitute the sugar free ingredients for the regular and you will be fine. If the recipe you're using calls for added sugar, use a sugar substitute.

There's very little difference between the carbs in regular Cool Whip, lite or sugar-free. That part doesn't matter. It's the cookies and bananas that pack the wallop.
I'm a diabetic and I don't completely avoid sugar. That's just unrealistic. By making the pudding sugar-free and possibly the cookies, you don't need to worry about the fruit and Cool Whip.
