Here are a few easy/inexpensive suggestions!

1. Monogram Wreath. I think I might try this one this year. We have plywood already. http://dittledattle.blogspot.com/2010/11/fresh-cedar-monogram-wreath.html

2. Decorated Hand Sanitizer. I made these at the beginning of the year for the teachers, but I personalized it with their name, the year's theme ("One in Christ") and our school logo, then tied a ribbon around the bottle. http://www.theidearoom.net/2009/02/personalized-hand-sanitizer-soaps.html

3. Post-it note clip boards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1UHpom30QA I made these to match the hand sanitizer bottles.

Starbucks gift card and homemade quick bread.

Don't forget the secretaries! They really make the world go 'round at our school - and they know everything about everything.

here is one that is really cute, and you don't have to do it as crafty as this. . .

In reading the other thread about the cocoa and spiced tea jars as gifts I was thinking I wonder hohw many people are at a loss for a gift for their child's teacher.

I would just like t make a suggestion on what I think would be a perfect gift. The teachers I work with are constantly on the go, many are very very tired right now. As I stated in the other thread they have tons of soaps, mugs, candles candy etc. The perfect gift in my mind...send a supper. Make up a casserole and print out the recipe for her/him. I gave lasagna one year to the two teachers I worked for, I thought they were going to cry it was one less meal they had to worry about during the season...or one they could freeze for emergency use. If not a meal even a 5 dollar gift card would be great..then tell your friends whose children are in the same class so they can do the same.

just an idea.

or a gift card to a local pizza place or restaurant...

our teachers have LOVED walmart gift cards because they purchase supplies and stuff for the room.

but, some don't have money for that and making gift jars is fairly inexpensive when you consider how many you can make for the cost. I think they are lovely and it's the thought behind them that makes the difference. :)

really, you could just wrap it in pretty scrapbook paper and print the tag on cardstock, punch a hole, tie it on with a ribbon. you don't have to do all the fancy stamping and cutting.

I wish we could compile these suggestions and then have a Mod put a sticky in the School Forum.

Should I flag this so they won't forget? I feel bad for asking them to do one more thing...

It's true, Chantell. I think you've used up your requests for the year. Pretty sure you have to wait til 2011 now.

You goofy girl!!! :giggle:

Is there a current thread (*Besides this one*) floating around about teacher gifts that I haven't seen? I've got a feeling we can figure something out ;o)

It could be the holiday/craft form might be an appropriate place to keep the list safe....

I know it may be too late for some of you this year, but this was a great success this year for teacher gifts and very, very simple to coordinate.

I got the idea from a fellow Mom in my dd's class and I asked if I could do this for my ds's class.

Each student was sent home with a letter and an envelope with my ds's name on it. The letter mentioned to parents that I would be willing to shop for the teacher by combining $ from parents in order to purchase some items for the teacher to pamper herself, etc. The gift would be from all students in the class (a card is signed by all the children in art class)...and no one should feel pressured to give if they normally would not be. So, whether someone contributed $1.00 or $10.00 or wasn't able to contribute, all children would be giving the gift.

The parents sent the money in the envelopes marked with my ds's name...he brought them home in his take home folder each day.

It has been a huge success! A homemade meal will accompany the gift as well.

If anyone would like a form letter they can use for next year, PM me and I'll send it to you.

From a teacher's perspective, this warmed my heart because, while it's wonderful to receive gifts, I always felt for the students who wanted to do something but couldn't or didn't have family think of making a card or whatever...so, this way, everyone gets to say, "Look what we got for you!" And some people "over-'contributed" because they weren't sure if others could afford it...it's been humbling to do this for ds's teacher...and something I will continue to do each year.
