I was wondering if anyone makes their own candles. I am aways looking for different crafts for Christmas presents and maybe for future selling. I got the idea of making candles from one of my friends. It sound like fun but I don't know where to start. Where do I find suppies, instructions and anything else I would need? If any of you have any knowledge in this area I would love it if you could share it.

I think that Mel (2blessingsTN) has made and even sold candles in the past.

I was going to say you're local craft store should have all the stuff and instructional books to boot. I'm sure if you search the internet you can find other directions also.

Last year we made many many batches of peppermint bark--for the mailman, the grown nephews, etc.

One bag of choc chips, some peppermint flavoring, and come chopped peppermint candy. Melt the chips and add the flavor. Spread it out on waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle the chopped candy across the top. Cool it, and break into pieces. Was a nice gift for maybe $3.25.

On some we used white choc chips and drizzled white on top of the choc, then added the candy.

We made some "double layers" with white and reg choc==cool the first layer first, tho.

We also used those colored flavor chips from the craft store in red and green, melted some of that and drizzled over the top in zig zags. As I recall, they ALLL liked it!

Of course, you could add nuts of some kind, or do something else to it.

My dd made one batch of pull taffy and gave it to one of her uncles. I tho't it turned out well for her first attempt.

Another one is no-bake cookies--most people seem to really like those, and they are quick and easy. If you own mini-muffin (tart) pans, you can grease them and put the cookies in THEM--that makes a cute lil cookie, esp if you press a nut meat in the top. They look CUTE and more 'fancy'--certainly a lot less like a cow pie!!:giggle:

You could also do the cookieinajar thing, or if you can at all, NOW is the time to make some jam or applesauce or pizza sauce or relish or something. :)

Good luck!
