a homemade bird feeder with my Sunday School class!! It's not hard at all... my class is 6-9 but I'm sure your 4 y/o could do it too!!
It's just a large pine cone covered with peanut butter and rolled in birdseed... strung up with wire or string or whatever! You can find instructions online if need be!!
Or how 'bout one of the candy bar bouquet thingys? I was going to do that but thought it would be $$$ to get the candy for all the kids in my class!
We've also done a hand print tee shirt for my husband he loved it! In fact... we did it 3 years ago and he asked me for another one this year!!
You could paint a rock for a paperweight... maybe make it into a turtle or ladybug!
I googled Father's Day crafts and got lots of ideas!!
Okay, I do have a question for you though. Please bear with me, because I really am not crafty at all. How did you do the hand print t-shirt? Did you just get a regular t-shirt from any store? What kind of paint did you use? Did you do both hands or just one? Did you write anything on it? I know this is a lot of questions, I so am illiterate (not sure of spelling) when it comes to crafts.
We are doing a footprint tshirt that will say "My Kids Walk All Over Me". My kids and I made a shirt a few years back that had handprints and it said "Best Dad Hands Down".
I am going to the local craft store to get my tshirt and fabric paint but you can get both of those at Walmart. I wouldn't buy the white undershirts from Hanes or Fruit of the Loom because they tend to be too thin for projects like this.
Puts lots of folded newspaper or paper grocery sacks inbetween the front and back of shirt so paint won't soak thru.
Wash the shirt before painting but do NOT use fabric softener. It will affect the paint application and/or length of paint staying on shirt.
I will probably use a fabric paint bottle with a slender, pointy end or a fabric paint pen to write the words after the footprints are dry.
I did both hands and printed "Daddy's helping hands" on the pocket of the tee shirt... with the year! I didn't use stencils but I s'pose you could! My handwriting isn't all that great... but he knew I tried!!
My husband gets a ton of compliments on this shirt... I think that's why he wants another as he's lost weight and this one swims on him!
I used a gray tee from Wal-Mart... I think it's fruit of the loom actually! It's a heavier weight than those they wear under their work shirts... and it wasn't in a package in the underweard dept... it was on a shelf with a ton of colors to choose from!
My ds and I went to Wal-mart this past Saturday. I had my ds pick out the shirt color. He picked out a Royal Blue color. Then we headed to the paint section. He picked yellow paint for his feet and then orange for baby brother's feet. Like I said before I'm not a crafty person, nor am I a color coordinated person either. So, I asked the craft lady what color she thought for the writing Black or White and she said White. Now, I'm set! The shirt is in the washer and my ds is so excited too, that he keeps coming up to me and asking if daddy's shirt is ready. I think I'm as or more excited than he is.
