I am sure most of you will never see this movie. But I did see it last night and wanted to share my review of it in case there are some who may be looking into seeing it. For starters the pluggedinonline review way over exaggerated some of the bloody scenes. Some of it was so quick and not really too bad. Yes there is lots of blood...but it's very fake looking (on purpose) and yes lots of throats cut slit and lots of people die...will maybe like 8 or so. I will say the movie was totally Tim Burton and excellently done! The music was wonderful and both Jonny Depp and Helena Bonhem Carter did wonderfully in their twisted rolls. It is predictable, but it should be. It's really a great broadway on the big screen...with more blood than you would see on a stage. I enjoyed it and will most likely get some of the songs off i-tunes for my i-pod Broadway playlist :) I would see the movie again, but wouldn't buy it. So if you can stomach the blood and the twisted thought of the movie and like broadway style you would like the movie. Plus really it's Jonny Depp...he is a great actor and sings pretty good too and was perfect to play the twisted barber of fleet street. But, my only complaint would be the ending, they left one storyline almost finished, but not 100% sure to the audience of what happened to the character. Anyway that's my review of it.

From the reviews, it looked like the movie had that blue-black look that a lot of Tim Burton's animated movies have. I always find it very interesting what kind of lighting they use in a movie. Even a movie that is "in color" can look almost black and white depending on the backgrounds/lighting.

But I digress. It looks like an interesting movie, but I am grossed out pretty easily so I will probably skip it. Did you see The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp in it? I'm assuming it is something along those lines. I didn't know Depp could sing? And I LOVE Helena Bonham Carter.

I saw a movie version of the play in HS...my drama teacher had a thing for this particular musical. The play version was fairly gory, so I wondered how the big screen version would be, especially with Tim Burton, who is never afraid of creepy, driving it.

Thanks for the review!!

(All Johnny Depp fans should see Benny and Joon by the way...he's delightful in that movie, I love his Buster Keaton stuff.)

I saw this movie too several weeks ago. I loved it! I didn't already know the story so I found it such a sad tragic tale. And I thought the cinematography (is that the right word for how a film looks?) was just beautiful.

I went to see it by myself though because everyone else I know are big chickens.
