My friend gave me a recipe for a white cake. She and her family love it and make it all the time, but I personally haven't tried it. I will go find the recipe and post it for you. :)

Starlight Cake

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 butter or marg softened (I would imagine you could use oil instead of the butter or marg, if you wanted to.)
1 1/4 cups milk
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 large eggs

Heat oven to 350*. Grease & lightly flour bottom & sides of a 13X9" rectangular pan or 2 -- 9" round pans. In a large bowl beat all ingredients together on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high for 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan/s. Bake rectangle 35-40 mins (round 25-30 mins.) , or until cake springs back when lighty touched. Cool on wire racks. (If you have used rounds pans remove cakes after 10 mins and let them finish cooling on the racks.)

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup butter or marg -- softened
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 - 2 TBSP milk

Mix powdered sugar & butter (or marg) in a medium bowl on low speed. Stir in vanilla and 1 TBSP of milk. Gradually beat in just enough of the remaining milk to make frosting smooth & spreadable. If frosting is too thick, add more milk a few drops at a time. If frosting becomes to thin, add small amounts of icing sugar.
