Cute movie, it was funny, had some great kung fu action in it and a good story line. my 5 year old ds loved it. my poor 2 yr old ds cried during the pre-pre-views and fell asleep on dh while he walked with him in the hallway before the movie started so he slept through the entire thing!! poor little guy. Very family friendly movie. I am sure we will end up buying it when it comes out on DVD...especially for ds2 who has wanted to see this movie forever but missed out...

sorry I did add more details. I had just come home when I typed this review. Really it was nice, no potty talk, no farting, no bad words. AWESOME was used in pure jack black style. there is one part where PO (the panda) is upset because he thinks he sucks more than anyone has ever sucked before...that's it for things you don't want your kids repeating. IF your kids are scared easily there is one part in the jail where it could seem scary to someone who is easily scared, but honestly it was funny because they would slow motion some of the kicks to the face and you see spit and funny faces...I know boys love that kind of thing. I loved how the message was that there is really no special power or thing needed to be great and be who you truly are meant to be...you have to believe in yourself and trust that those who put you there know you are special and capable of doing great things.

Thanks for the review. Monday is dd#2's b-day. We are supposed to take her and a few of her friends to a water park on that day, but if the rains, we will be going to see Kung Fu Panda.

We really liked it too. We took 8 yo nephew, 6 yo niece, 4 yo Adam and 2 yo Lily and everyone except Lily sat with rapt attention the whole time. She was somewhat interested, but had more fun switching seats the whole time. The nice thing about it is that it's short, hour and a half, so it went quickly even for the one who wasn't paying attention the whole time.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good movie to take their kids to. My dh and I really enjoyed it too and there were some points we were laughing harder than the kids.

My boys and I had date night last night and saw it as well. They are usually scaredy cats but they were completely fine with the jail scene so I think it would probably be ok. We all enjoyed it immensly, although I will caution you, if you have boys they will be doing Kung Fu for some time to come!!:giggle:

Glad to hear this! Ds2 has been wanting to see it and ds1 wants to see Prince Caspian. Do you ever send your kids into a different movie if you are all there together??? :hmm: Anyway ds2's bday is tomorrow and he's having a friend spend the night Monday so I'm guessing this will be one of the things we do. :)

I do send my 17, 13 and 10 yo together to a movie, but I would not send my 13 and 10 yo to a movie without someone else. That is just me. Not in my area.

I took my boys last night and they LOVED it!!! ds1 (who is almost 10 yo and thinks he is too cool for animated movies) was cackling so loudly, I had to tell him to keep it down. They keep saying lines from the movie too, and I was laughing almost as hard as they were!

Favorite line is "We do not wash our pits in the sacred pool of tears, Panda." :biglaugh:

I'm taking my two girls to see it today. (a treat while big sis is enjoying Alabama still...)

I had considered Caspian but think that it might be a better "wait until DVD" choice for us.

KFP looks silly and funny. I NEED funny b/c laughter is GOOD medicine!

Glad to hear it is a good movie. I was scared it was going to be another Shreck. I liked Shreck but it was not a kids movie.

I really like Jack Black and so do the kids. So we will be off to the movies soon!

I actually have to give it a thumbs down. Why? Because it terrified my 5 yr old during the "evil" fight scenes. That and the part where Po keeps talking about "S" ing. I mean come on that was NOT needed. I wouldn't take DD back again and I am not taking my 3 1/2yr old.

Sorry for the bad review, but for those 2 things, it was okay, but scared the bee jeebers out of my DD.

I can see how it might scare some kids- my ds did fine with it, but all kids are different, but I can't for the life of me remember what your referring to. :dunno:  If you don't feel comfortable posting it, pm it to me, because it's been almost a month ago that I saw it and I can't remember any language I felt was inappropriate.

He was talking to whoever about how bad he sucked. Kids aren't going to know what it means, but they may say it and pick up a bad habit over it.

I knew about the fighting which I was okay with it, but people should be forwarned about the glowing evil eyes and the dark parts of the movie where "evil" is fighting.

we saw it and overall liked it.

I didn't like the darkness of the "Pit" where he was being held captive but my boys didn't say anything. I always over think things and wonder if children are getting desensitized to that stuff.

I never even noticed that word UT..
