I am a mom to 2 little ones - a 4 year old girl and a happy, but busy, little boy who is 17 months. I am working at home full time and my husband is a dairy farmer who is gone about 14 hours per day, at least 6 days a week. I am quitting my job at the end of this year (which seems like forever to me!). I am very overwhelmed trying to be a full-time mom and have a full-time job, without any help from grandparents or anything. I really just want to be home with my kids full-time, so that is what I am planning on doing at the end of this year. However, it seems that everyone I talk to thinks that I am crazy for doing this - and I really could use some support of others that are doing what I want to do. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Welcome to the board!! :welcome:

I'm a farmer's wife.

I, too, went from the working world to being at home, and I love it.

Praying that your transition is a smooth one. :)

I think if you can work it financially so you are able to stay home with your children full time then that is a marvelous thing and very worthy!! I'm working part time because we need me to and it's exhausting. I can't imagine full time. :)

Welcome here!

thanks - you can't imagine how much it means to me to connect with other moms - okay, maybe you can:wink: I'm so glad I found this - because most of the moms in my church think I am crazy for giving up a stay at home job to "just be a mom". I was hoping to find the encouragement at church, but since I can't - I'm so glad I found it here. I know this is what God wants for me and my family - and my husband doesn't make very much but I know we can live on what he makes - we've done it before and God will provide, right??? I'm working really hard to save almost everything that I make from my job this year so that we will have a good savings built up when I go back to staying at home.

I appauld you for wanting to be home with your children full time. I have blessed with doing this for six years. There are definitely good day/bad day issues but I KNOW my children are being blessed because of it. It has been a sacrifice but God has blessed that sacrifice. My six year old my talking to my husband about me possibly getting a part time job. My son said, "Why would you do that mommy? That would just be bad." I go to a church where most of the moms work and they don't understand my way of thinking. I feel though that part of my ministry is to example another way of living. It's just way more common for women to work than to sah. It's not that I feel what they are doing is wrong. It's just I feel led to another lifestyle. Hope that helps.

We're glad you found this board, too. :)

There are lots of good ideas on how to save money on the Money Saving Forum. We have ladies here who have terrific frugal ideas on how to stretch the budget. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Aloha!!!! I went from working to staying home, too. I always told myself that I should work to help support my family and pay off my student loan debt. That's before I fell in love with my daughters and realized that I didn't want other people raising my children in a day care, etc. I am not fully supported my loved ones when it comes to staying home or home schooling, either, but all I need is my husband's support to keep going ahead with what I am doing. Best wishes!!!

I am not a working mom but I have a husband who is a legion coach so he is hardly ever home during the summer time and is a teacher and a highschool baseball coach during the school year. I have grandparents to help but they are both busy either with other family members or my parents being retired are busy with their social life. I have a 4 month old and a two year old. I never get time for myself I almost have to plead with people to watch my kids so I can do some social activities at church
