We visited the Creation Museum today! It was so cool. DS is so into the Jonathan Parks CDs and says that he wants to be a creation scientist. So this was right down his alley.
We are staying at a hotel in Petersburg just on the edge of IN, the museum is actually in KY.
The first night the dks swam because it was 6 hours of traveling. THe next day DS couldn't sleep all night, had chills and sore throat. BUrning up with fever. So I did what my pet peeve is as a nurse, and took him to the Urgent care clinic down the road, because I wanted a quick fix:rollingeyes: I hate it when moms run to the doc for every little sniffle and abuse antibiotics and this causes a chain of resistant strains :blah:
Anyway, ds got the shot in his rump, we stayed in the hotel all day and he mostly slept. DD swam and then today we were able to go to the Creation Museum. The people were so nice there, Christ was in the center of it all:clap:
AND the oral antibiotic was $47, who knows how many hundreds of $$ the urgent care clinic will cost us. (We have high deductible major medical insurance with an HSA) But DH is a police officer and God blessed us in that he gets free admission and the rest of us got 1/2 price:clap::clap::clap: Ain't that just like God to care for us and provide in that way. Wow!
Go see it! It is marvelous! I loved the dinosaurs and the plantetarium. DKS were really influenced by the section where you walk through and it is as if God never existed. Very scarey, grafiti everywhere, teen pregnancies abortions, divorces, gay marriage.
The employees were so nice and it was just so cool!

We're headed there this week. How old are your children? How did they react to DKS were really influenced by the section where you walk through and it is as if God never existed. Very scarey, grafiti everywhere, teen pregnancies abortions, divorces, gay marriage.
:dunno:
I have a 7 & 10 yo (dd) They don't know what gay marriage or abortions are. How explicit is it?

I'm glad you're enjoying the museum and our beautiful state. :)

My DD3 went through the museum with her 5th grade last year. She didn't even notice it, and I barely remember it now. It must not be that explicit. ;)

I think it was showing from the fall and also if God was taken away all together. I don't think they saw the newspaper clippings on the wall of the gay marriages, so they don't really understand all of that anyway. Their ages are just turned 7 (dd) a week ago. And DS is 8 almost 9 (in a month). There were videos of kids doing drugs in this little area, and a video of a teenager talking with her friend about getting an abortion. I didn't watch all of the videos because it was so crowded and my kids were getting hungry at that point.
The scenes were just magnificent. It showed creation and the garden and the fall I can't say enough good things about it!!!
There were little signs like only :cry:1/3 of kids today plan to go to church after leaving their home. Only 40% of the population believes in God (my memory may be wrong about that one.)
The planetarium also had a wonderful movie about the hugeness of our earth. Its just like a little speck of sand in our big universe. We just can't even comprehend this. That God would love us so much when we are so little and insignificant compared to Him.
DS just finished 2nd grade and there were things in his textbooks about millions of years ago and stuff. So this museum was just the coolest! It had how "human reason" may say something is million years ago but according to God and the Bible this is how we reason out these things.
I LOVED how it showed the dinosaur red blood cells were found in the fossil which also more facts that the "millions of years" ago isn't right. Blood cells couldn't have lasted that long as evolutionists say they could have lasted.
So incredibly much fun we had!!!!

What? You mean I was that close to where you live? I hope we can get together next time!!! DH and I do plan on coming back it was wonderful. We stayed at a hotel in Lawerenceberg, IN.
I would have had plenty of time to visit because DS was sick and we stayed an extra day. Well rats! I'm sad about that, I would have loved to meet you. I was SO CLOSE!!!
I need to remember where all of you gals are located.

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Creation Museum.
Noah's ark was just fabulous you really get an idea of what it was like, they had lots of facts about it.

Ellie, you will want to bring jackets if you all are cold natured! When I packed us up, it was 100 degrees outside. And there is very limited space in our 2 door vehicle, so I was a knuckle head and didn't pack one single jacket!
So we went to WalMart on our way to lunch that day we visited the Creation Museum and do you think Walmart has one single sweatshirt or jacket in the end of July?
So I finally found a jacket for DD in the women's section that she wore. And we went back to the hotel to change into jeans.
In my opinion, after you have been indoors for a while it was FRIGID! And the temp was cooler after the rains too that day it was in the low 80s which was fabulous for the outdoor stuff at the museum.
Moral of the story, bring a jacket to the Creation Museum if you are cold natured like me.

Thanks for the info. We were there on Saturday. It was too busy for my children to even notice the newspaper clippings and it was so loud in the video room that we couldn't hear what was going on. (we were waiting to go in for the movie).
As far as the temperature inside - it was H.O.T. in there!
The museum itself was incredible!!! Powerful! My girls really enjoyed it. The night before we were going (we came from Mammoth Caves) my youngest asked "Is the place we're going all about God?" When I replied yes, she just answered "Cool!"
The gardens were beyond belief! Wish we could have spent 2 days there, but our schedule was jam packed. We missed 1 move, the Men in White. I'm going to check AIG's website to see if I can order it.
We'll definitely be going back.

Those are great pictures! Your kids are so cute.
I took a picture of DD3 sitting on the triceratops when we were there last October. Her friend is standing next to her (we were there on a school field trip).

Oh I can't wait to go! We pass by it every time that we head back up to Indy. We just moved to Ky and it's about an hour from where we live now. We're still back and forth between here and Indy getting our house on the market and all and we pass it every time on 275 on our way up/down.
Once we get the house done and get it on the market and are just going back for small stuff like lawn care....then we're going to stop and go visit the museum. That will probably be a few more weeks.
I can't wait! How much is the admission?

Thank you! Yes, they had a great time. One of the things I love about our school is that so many parents are able to go on field trips (yes, even parents with outside jobs). Most parents only had to look after their own child, while a few like me had another child besides our own. The teachers try to make sure that good friends are in the same group, making it even more fun for the kids.
my friend lives in Indy and has passes to the Creation museum. She would like for my family to go with them to see it :)

We finally were able to go. :)
It's directly on our way to/from Indy, so every week when we make the trip we pass right by it.
We finally were able to stop and see it on Wednesday.
It's not as big as I thought it was, but it is really good.
The dinosaurs were good, but nothing compared to the dinosaur exhibit at the Indianapolis children's museum. If you guys have kids who are really interested in dinosaurs, you must visit the museum in Indy.
The creation museum is nice though; I'm glad that we were able to see it. :)
