the stress that is of having a special needs child and trying to be the best advocate for him that I can be. We have a meeting in the works due to some issues . I have to tell you I am yet again questioning those who work with DS at school. We really are going down the same path as we did in Germany and I really wish .. sigh... things would be different. He is a real challenge.. all I want is a teacher or special education teacher that could raise to the task of meeting his needs . Seems like he ends up getting at least one teacher every year who gets in a power struggle with him. Where I want to know is their understanding for working with kids that have his issues?? The teacher this time.. is the head of the Special Education department itself. :hmm: Seems like she could find ways to meet his needs without power struggles or using intimidation as a tool . I am just tired of it all.

I read your post Rhonda and can't help but understand what you're going through. I have a special needs son who is just entering middle school. I truely understand how overwhelming it can be to be our child's advocate. Each year brings new challenges. I'm not sure what city you're located in, but have you thought of calling CAUSE to see if they can give you any direction as to what you can do? They might be an option. Schools can do a lot of things (even if they won't offer it) to meet our kid's needs. I'm sending you a big hug today and want to tell you that God doesn't give you more than you can handle. I understand being tired of it all and you probably need a break for a time, but pick it back up and deal with it and know that God is holding you up and we're holding you up in prayer! God bless you!

I prayed for you Rhonda.

I don't get the power struggles with teachers and the kids either. As if it is a situation to win. BTDT.
