We're going to make some goodies in the kitchen for the girls teachers, Awana leaders & Sunday school teachers this year.

So far on my list is:
Fudge
Truffles (Kraft food & family magazine - they look easy)
Pecan Praline Morsels (Paul Deen's recipe)

Anything else that can easily be made by kids? Besides cookies.

Those ideas look great!! We may do the same thing. Walmart always has great tins pretty cheap.

Are you going to post the recipes for the Truffles and Pecan Praline Morsels? Pretty Please?

truffles recipe here (http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/simply-sensational-truffles-107529.aspx)

Pralines here (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/pecan-praline-morsels-recipe/index.html)

Looks easy, doesn't it?

I'm going to check walmart for tins next time I go. Or maybe the dollar store. Put the candies in mini cupcake liners.

Truffles are very easy to make. I always use this recipe and give them as gifts and they are a HUGE hit. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Easy-Decadent-Truffles/Detail.aspx

Other ideas of things that kids could make:

hot cocoa mix
chocolate covered pretzels or potato chips

Peppermint Bark is easy. I saw Pecan Bark in a gift catalog this weekend that looks yummy too and is probably as easy to do as Peppermint Bark.

We make candy cane pretzels every year for gifts. Cover a cookie sheet w/wax paper and cover that in mini pretzels. Melt brown melting wafers and drizzle that over, then melt white melting wafers and drizzle that over, then sprinkle crushed candy canes over top. Everybody loves them!!! We also make poor man's almond roca. If you are interested in the recipe, let me know. It is easy to make and soooo delicious! :licklips:

One year we made chocolate covered spoons (with crushed candy cane on them) and gave them as a gift with either coffee or homemade hot choc mix. I can't remember which. :hmm:

We did the choc. covered spoons too - along with h/m hot choc. mix. I sent along a dollar store mug with it.

I posted a link to the pralines above.

My oldest said she'd like to make peppermint bark. So, if someone could provide a recipe for that - please.

The pretzels are a great idea too. Something my 7 yo could do without a lot of frustration.

A non-food item we make is h/m soaps. Just the melt & pour kind. The girls enjoy making them for the teachers. We have to label them that they're not candy.

The way I have always done peppermint bark is easy.

Melt several squares of almond bark in the microwave.
Stir in crushed peppermint.
Spread it out over wax paper (on a baking sheet).
Let it set a few hours, break it into pieces. Enjoy!

We've made a bark similar to yours, but instead of using crushed candy cane , we put dried cranberries and toasted almonds in instead, so it's more like a fruit & nut bar.

We usually make milk chocolate fudge with pecans. This year I think we will try vanilla candy cane, chocolate/orange or creamsicle. Which kind do you usually make?

Which kind do you usually make? Chocolate. :biglaugh: We're really daring aren't we? Pushing the limits here. Only because we've only made it for ourselves and that's what dh & oldest dd likes.

The creamsicle sounds really good. Recipe? My favorite is maple, but I don't think that would be cost effective for us. Plus I don't want to use up my real maple syrup from the farm.

The creamsicle sounds really good. Recipe?

I did a google search & found this recipe. I haven't tried it yet, though. :)

Ingredients
3 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter, divided
3/4 cup heavy cream
12 ounces vanilla chips
3 teaspoons orange extract
12 drops yellow food coloring
9 drops red food coloring
7 ounces marshmallow cream

Directions
Grease 13x9-inch pan with 1 1/2 teaspoons of butter or margarine.
In heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cream, and butter. Stir while cooking on low heat until sugar is dissolved. Bring to boil while stirring, 4 minutes.
Remove from heat; stir in chips and marshmallow cream until smooth. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture. Add orange extract and food colorings to remaining mixture; stirring until blended.
Pour into the greased pan. Drop the remaining 1 cup mixture by tablespoons, over the top; swirl with a knife.
Cover and chill until it has set. Cut into squares.
