I think it has enough kid stuff to keep her entertained but I also think there's enough adult humor for it to be clever. Like Prince Charming being reduced to staring in a musical about how HE saved a damsel in distress.

I want to take Nat next week to a afternoon showing.
We have spent too much in the last two weeks going to see Pirates and Spiderman to go again in the evening.

Thanks for the review. I wasn't sure about taking the kids. I am not a big Shrek fan, but I bet the kids would like it.

because of the crudeness, and doesn't the third one have a womanly looking guy in the previews or something? That's just very wrong...jmho!

Please always keep in mind that my girls are 19 and 21 and I have relaxed quite a bit from when they were just kiddos.
Womanly guy? I can't think of what you mean.

From pluggedinonline.com:
Mabel and Doris are Cinderella's ugly stepsisters, but Regis Philbin and Larry King voice their characters, giving them a drag-queen feel. That makes this line from Doris sound creepy: "I know he's a jerk, but that Charming makes me hotter than July."
Other scenes go out of their way to expose effeminate qualities in male characters. Shrek's royal outfit includes lipstick applied by a stereotypically portrayed effeminate male servant (who later reappears as Charming's stage manager in a play). A character thinks that Artie is (or looks like) a girl. Shrek compliments Charming on his leotard, then asks if it comes in men's sizes too.
They're definitely cute movies, for sure, they're just a bit over the top with crudeness!

Actually, kings back in the day DID wear makeup. They made them look like French royalty back in the 1700's. (who btw, DID look very feminine  )
I actually went to see it by myself! lol I enjoy Shrek but I think it is too adult for my kiddos who are 6 and 8 yo. My oldest is old enough now to start asking about the humor meant for adults and what it all means. :o
