Any information would be very appreciated :)

My parents went to Venice but they went on excursions to Rome. It is so beautiful there (from their video). I have no idea what to see/not see though. Have fun!!!!

We went and are going again this year in October... my MIL is "from" there and they go back for a month almost every year... what would you like to know?

We hit all the major cities except Milan (it's just a really big city like all the others... but no major feature I've ever been interested in).

Florence is FABULOUS and only a short drive from Pisa..., but the only thing in Pisa to see is the tower... unless you want to see my grandfather in law's office building he used to teach in :giggle:. Still, the Uffizi and Academie are amazing... as is the shopping.

Venice... that's a good solid 2 day visit... but you've got St. Marco's square... a gondola ride (take a vaparetto... save the money and take pictures)... stay on the Grand Canal if you can. The glass blowing on the Murano Island is REALLY cool, but be careful, often you get talked into a "shop" that's really a high pressure sales shop. (but the shop really is very cool).

Napoli... very close to Vesuvius and Pompeii/Herculaneum. We've never been to Herculaneum, but Pompeii is AMAZING. Vesuvius stinks, but it's a smoking volcano and how often do you get to climb one of those? :giggle:

Rome... well... it's Rome... LOTS and LOTS to see.

Take public transportation as often as possible. Their trains run MUCH better than ours (it's the only thing that does)... and if you DO decide to rent a car be prepared to pay through the nose and take your life into your hands. The highways are murderous and triple parking is very common. Not to mention that all parking lots appear as if you've just missed a parking competition for the blind. :biglaugh::thud:.

Anything I've forgotten? Just ask :)

Lots of good advice from Jenn.
My son and daughter in law are on a Mediterranean cruise right now for their Honeymoon! (including several Italian stops).

So if they have any favorites, I'll pass them along later!
