I want to do something with flour sack towels, but I'm not sure what to do. I plan to use them to wrap crocheted gifts for friends etc. Should I embroider? Should I paint stamp something? I would just decorate a corner or one edge I think. What would you do?

I'd embroider b/c that's what I know how to do, and I think it looks so nice.

Do you think an initial of the family's last name would be nice? Or should I do something seasonal? :hmm:

I embroider as well. Hobby Lobby & Joannes has a nice selection of Martha's iron on patterns (I have to use a pattern. :giggle: that are around $1.00 or so. You get 5 images on 1 sheet. I've been able to re-use the image more than once if I'm careful.
Some resale shops will have vintage ones. I picked up a really nice flower patterned one last summer. I'm hoping to make my sister a table cloth for her hope chest.

I've never used those. Do you iron them onto the fabric?

That's what I use too. You do iron them onto the fabric. Then when you wash them, the pattern disappears and all that's left is your embroidering.

That's all I use! I have to follow a pattern. http://www.acmenotions.com/aumahotirtr.html That's the Aunt Martha site. The stores don't carry all the patterns but you can get an idea of what they might carry.
