Someone recommended an anti-anxiety to me and when I read the bottle it is a flower essence. All natural. http://www.flowersociety.org/ I haven't had time to check out the website - just putting it here for more info and so I can check back too.
I had always thought of flower essence users as being new agers, but the person who recommended it to me is a Christian woman who I admire. She's being using the anti-anxiety for some time with great results.
Wondering about the use of it in children. Safety etc.

I'm not sure about the flower essences efficacy, but I know I don't like that website. The "science" on it is full of new-agey terms such as chakras and doesn't appear to me to be as scientific as they claim it is.
Also, their justification for using flower essences is "spiritual" and not in a Godly way:
As homeopath Carola Lage-Roy pointed out in the previous chapter, every illness, including anxiety, contains a lesson for the person afflicted. From the viewpoint of flower essence therapy, this lesson regards a psychospiritual issue that is not being dealt with or a psychospiritual need that is not being met, says Kaminski. These neglected areas of the individual create energy imbalances that over time can manifest in illness. By helping to bring psychospiritual issues and unmet needs to light, flower essences facilitate the resolution of these issues, rebalancing of the attendant energy disturbances, and restoration of health.
A purely biochemical model fails to address the emotional, psychological, and spiritual components of anxiety. Manipulating brain chemistry, as with anti-anxiety drugs, may mask the symptoms of anxiety, but it does nothing to correct the root causes of the anxiety. If brain chemistry is skewed, what caused that to happen? According to the flower essence model, the biochemical imbalances found in anxiety are caused by the distress of the spirit, or soul, says Kaminski. Thus, a purely biochemical approach will not cure anxiety because it does not deal with the source—the soul’s crisis.
*If* brain chemistry problems are caused by the distress of the spirit or soul, how are flowers supposed to help that? I would say that if you believe your problems are caused by distress of your soul, you should turn to God.
I'm not sure all flower essence users believe this or not. I would encourage you to do a lot more research into it before you decide whether to use this. And I hope I don't offend you by asking if it's possible your friend is doing so well b/c of a psychosomatic effect. In other words, she believes it will help her anxiety so it does?
Praying you find answers.

I am not opposed to natural or homeopathic remedies. I believe that God created the earth and all that is within it. I don't think it's too far fetched to imagine that flowers/plants etc. can be used for medicinal purposes.
All that being said, I would consider the source recommending these things VERY carefully. The Bible tells us that in the last days, many will be decieved and fall away. Carolyn stated it much better than I ever could. *If* brain chemistry problems are caused by the distress of the spirit or soul, how are flowers supposed to help that? I would say that if you believe your problems are caused by distress of your soul, you should turn to God.

you know, Lavender has been known for it's calming properties, and mint is fabulous for rejuvenating. that's all I know. It's interesting, tho.
I would not feel any hesitation to enjoy the essence of God's flowers.

It was a Christian therapist that encouraged my friend to try the flower essence.
I'll have to investigate a better online source for information. Perhaps there is a Christian website.

I was going to say exactly what Jewel said.
I have the lavender and the peppermint essential oils and there are even lavender bath products and body lotions for babies to relax them at bedtime made by Johnson and Johnson and they can be used by adults, too. There are lavender aromatherapy dish detergents and Yardley makes soaps..
I have never read those New Age websites,I get my info from magazines like baby magazines and Redbook,Good Housekeeping, etc.

We do use lavender already, but this would be something that you take orally.

Yes, Bach! Exactly. I bought it today. I'm going to try it for myself first to see if I notice anything. I bought the stress formula.

I've been using it myself on and off. First on our houseboat vacation because I experience a bit of anxiety while on water. The taste is horrid. But it seemed to work. My Mom tells me I should use it regularly, not just when I need it.
Our hospital has a natural health doctor on staff now. I'm going to make an appt for myself & dd to discuss this and other concerns.

Oh,that is good that it works!:banana2: That will be interesting talking to the health docotor!
I could order some but I am always afraid to try new things. They have the Bach remedies for everything, from colds,to aches and pains to anxiety, liver and kidney function and lungs in one of my pet catlogues, but they are for people,too..
I need the ache and pain and the anxiety ones most of all :thud:with winter coming so fast.
