My daughter is in first grade. She has one speed: ultra slow. I catch myself yelling and yelling and yelling to "hurry up." I have tried using rewards and punishment as methods to speed her up. Neither works. Does anyone have other ideas that have worked?

Is it for everything or just certain things????? Are there other issues before I come up with a solution??

Have you tried making a chart? You could list the responsibilities she has, ie: get dressed, eat breakfast, shoes on, etc..., and have a place where she could put a check mark after she did each one. (laminate it so you can do it over and over again) Or you could even include times that she should be done with each one - that might be too much for a 1st grader though. But as I type this I'm thinking it might be perfect for my pokey 7th grader!
Good luck!

I'd do a laminate chart with pictures (and words) that she needs to "move" from a box to the chart when she finishes them. Have one for "before school" and "before bed". She can't do anything until they're moved.
Yes, it might require her to miss a day of school, or at the very least be late... but it's a good lesson to learn. :console: If it's still a problem, you might move up bedtime... AND 'get up' time 5 minutes every day.
