Default Goal 2: Non-Chocolate Candy

I have a bad habit of eating TONS of non-chocolate candies. I can't stop myself even when my tummy hurts from eating them. I know most of the time it's Red Dye #40 that's effecting me. But I love taffy, jelly bellies, licorice, hot tamales, etc. And I often eat too much at once and always seem to make sure there's some in my house. After two weeks of doing great with my no soda at home goal (only had a sprite today, but it was to cure my stomach ache and sore throat) its time to start phase two. It begins tomorrow. I will not take chocolate away, why because even doctors say in small moderate amounts its good to have chocolate and I tend to not overeat on chocolate because I buy the rich or dark kind and its easy to just eat one piece or half a bar and feel totally satisfied. But jelly bellies, or other things, I'd eat those things all DAY! So, now it's got to stop!

If anyone is wondering why? I am 204lbs and despite increased exercise and even no soda for two weeks I am not moving down the scale. I am 5'8" with a tall and wide body structure and so at my weight I'm still the same clothing size I was 8-10 years ago when I was 160. In truth I am trying to prove the BMI wrong and my doctor wrong that healthy eating would cause me to drop tons of weight. my doctor swears I could easily lose 50 pounds just by cutting out soda and junk food. Since I rarely eat "junk foods" like cakes, cookies, packaged pastries, etc. I've decided to cut out the two junk foods I do eat, non-chocolate candy and soda. I eat small portions, I buy whole grain foods, I'm eating more veges than I ever had before in my life and trust me I still hate them! But the weight doesn't move. I am healthy even as a bigger lady. I exercise 3-4 days a week. And well my weight doesn't move. So, here I go....

Good for you. I bet that the scale will move soon enough.

I used to eat lots of candy when I was in my 20s (I'm in my laaate 30s now so that was a good while back).

The funny thing is....even after this long, the craving doesn't always go away. Usually it is gone, but occasionally, I'll crave jelly beans or licorice or something....for the most part the cravings go away though.

BTW, places like trader joe's and health food stores have some that don't have the dyes in them. I like the panda licorice from those stores.

Good luck!

its been one month...no non-chocolate candy. I've even reduced the amount of chocolate I've eaten. But chocolate I will not give up, brownies, cookies, hershey's, etc...oh yeah those are life's treats! But I haven't had jelly beans or licorice in a month, these are normally things I keep in the house all the time.
